Learn How to Calculate ROPA 2019 Gratuity Arrear w.e.f 01.01.2016
The Pension Branch, Finance Department of Government of West Bengal vide Notification No: 536-F(Pen) dated 1st October 2019 has superseded the provisions of old Notification No:201‐F(Pen), dated 25.02.2009 regarding payment of Death cum Retirement Gratuity.
This new Notification No: 536-F(Pen) states that the maximum amount of Death / Retiring Gratuity will be Rs.12.00 Lakh as increased from Rs.6.00 Lakh as envisaged in ROPA 2009.
Thus there is a jump of 100% in payment of Gratuity under ROPA 2019. This will certainly provide a great sigh of relief to those employees who retired on or after 01.01.2016. In this post, we will discuss ROPA 2019 Gratuity Arrear Calculation w.e.f 01.01.2016.
Now let us see the new rates for payment of death gratuity as per ROPA 2019. The below table is not applicable for Retirement Gratuity i.e. employees who retired from the service. The below table is solely meant for employees who died during the service life.

Less than 1 (one) year | 2 times of last drawn monthly emoluments |
1 (one) year or more but less than 5 (five) years | 6 times of last drawn monthly emoluments |
5 (five) years or more but less than 11 (eleven) years | 12 times of last drawn monthly emoluments |
11 (eleven) years or more but less than 20 (twenty) years | 20 times of last drawn monthly emoluments |
20 (twenty) years or more | Half of the last drawn monthly emoluments for every completed six month periods of qualifying service subject to a maximum of 33 times of last drawn monthly emolument. |
